We started with the status quo of the project: the ESS collection has been established in the TIB TS and further terminologies will be inherited. Due to technical problems the SKOS version of the Climate and Forecast Standard Names (CF) cannot be included in the TIB TS. In order to make this vocabulary available in TIB TS, TIB had to create a simplified version of it (see TIB TS version of CF). TIB also presented a first prototype for assigning handles to terms of terminologies. Handles for terms will improve traceability of changes in terminologies. Another discussion point was the scope of metadata needed to make the handles FAIR Digital Objects.
DKRZ has thoroughly tested the API of TIB TS and presented their results. They will use the API to improve the search in the WDCC repository, so that the search returns more results for keywords that are not part of the controlled vocabulary of the Climate and Forecast Standard Names.
SGN presented their automatic annotation of datasets in the SGN database using the TIB TS, which is still under development. The aim of the task is to automatically annotate the descriptions of 1.529.933 objects in 124 collections.
The next step in our work will be to adapt the TIB TS to the needs of our community, to improve the search in DKRZ and the annotation pipeline for object descriptions in SGN, and to increase the dissemination of our results. Also, terminologies from the ESS collection are planned to be included in the NFDI4Earth Knowledge Hub. As before, we will keep you informed about the ongoing work here on the project website.
