With the first meeting of the Steering Committee on October 7, 2025, the project LiLA – Lower Saxony State Initiative for Digital Preservation – has successfully entered its next phase. The committee provides strategic guidance for the project, fosters exchange between the participating institutions, and supports the joint development of structures and processes for digital preservation in Lower Saxony.
The meeting focused on the strategic direction of the project, questions of communication and networking, and discussions on future areas of work. The overall aim is to further strengthen collaboration among participating institutions and to make knowledge, experience, and needs in the field of digital preservation systematically visible.
For the coming half year, key priorities include preparing and publishing a central knowledge base and launching a series of blog posts presenting project results, practical examples, and experience reports.
In addition, a central task of the initiative is to establish further networking opportunities alongside the planned working groups – strengthening exchange on long-term archiving both within and beyond the borders of Lower Saxony.
