Launch of the First LiLA.NDS Processing Cohort

The first six institutions are entering the processing phase to ensure the long-term preservation of digital collections.

With the initial consultations held between May and August 2025, the first processing cohort of the LiLA.NDS (Lower Saxony State Initiative for Digital Preservation) project has officially started. The first meeting took place on 16 May, and the final one on 14 August 2025.

During these consultations, the TIB project team worked with each participating institution to assess their current situation regarding digital preservation: What structures are already in place? Which digital collections should be processed within LiLA.NDS? And what potential challenges might complicate the preservation work?

Each consultation will be followed by a kick-off workshop, which marks the official start of the processing phase. In these workshops, the next steps will be agreed upon and concrete work plans developed.

With this first cohort, LiLA.NDS is now entering its practical phase: close collaboration with institutions to establish processes, safeguard digital collections, and build lasting expertise in digital preservation.
