The short paper "Can editorial decisions impair journal recommendations? Analysing the impact of journal characteristics on recommendation systems" has been published open access.
The authors analysed how editorial decisions can impact commonly used journal recommendation algorithms and applied these insights to B!SON's recommendation system. The results can help to prevent bias in these algorithms towards e.g. mega journals.
The paper has been presented at 18th ACM Conference on Recommender Systems (RecSys), Bari, Italy, 14–18 October 2024.
