After the project team successfully completed the first B!SON project phase with the presentation of the final recommendation service at the end of January 2023, the TIB is now starting the transfer project "B!SON in Lower Saxony".
The focus is on embedding the service in websites of academic institutions: They can offer the B!SON input mask as part of their digital consulting services for scientific publishing, query the recommendations via an API and display the results to their local researchers in their own look & feel. In addition, the search results can be modified decentrally based on local conditions (enrichment with facility-specific data, e.g. on OA discount agreements, deletion of unwanted recommendations, etc.). A prototype of such a local embedding will be provided by the SLUB Dresden, an adaptation for the TIB is also in preparation. In the first step, we address institutions that use the content management system TYPO3 (version 11 or higher).
The project is funded by the Ministry of Science and Culture of Lower Saxony (MWK) and is primarily aimed at institutions based in Lower Saxony (Germany). Interested institutions outside Lower Saxony are, however, also welcome to contact us: bisontibeu.
